Arrow Senior Living is known for doing things a little differently and challenging the status quo within the industry. It’s just who we are! Even with all the technological conveniences of today such as social media and websites, it is still common to meet individuals with a skewed perception of what senior living looks like. In this blog, I want to share my senior living journey, why I remain committed to the industry, the biggest myth I believe exists, and how to help others overcome the myths surrounding our beautiful The Town & Country Senior Living community and services.
When I initially stepped into the realm of long-term care, I took on the role of Program Outcomes and Grassroots Organizer for the ombudsman program in St. Louis, MO. As time progressed, I came to the realization that the most impactful way for me to contribute to the industry was to become directly involved in it. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from numerous leaders in the field.
Upon obtaining licensure, I discovered my passion lay in assisted living. A newspaper article about Arrow Senior Living piqued my interest. Since then, my life has taken a profoundly positive turn as I’ve had the honor of serving the residents at Town and Country.
The reason I am drawn to, and remain committed to, Town and Country are because of the residents, team members, and families. It’s their presence and dedication that fuel my passion for this work and compel me to return daily. Together, we witness the positive changes that Arrow Senior Living brings, enhancing our capacity to provide exceptional care. While some days are more eventful than others, I always depart with a sense of pride. I know we’ve done our utmost for those we serve, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to do so again tomorrow.
One of the prevailing myths about senior living is the misconception that it’s dull and uneventful. Whether it’s attending Happy Hours, Sunday Brunches, or commemorating birthdays and holidays, there are always engaging events for residents to participate in.
I firmly believe in leading by example. Whether I’m organizing a crochet corner, donning holiday costumes, or simply being present throughout the community, I strive to make a positive difference. Residents and team members at Town and Country can always expect a fun fact or joke of the day from me. This adds a touch of humor and entertainment to their day.
I hope you found this helpful, and I encourage you to share it with others because here at Arrow, we are committed to reshaping the perception of senior living! Search #whatseniorlivinglookslike, and you will find so many great things that happen in our community every single day.
