Volunteering in The Town & Country Senior Living Memory Care Neighborhood can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Our Neighborhood caters to individuals living with many different types of dementia. Volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. From providing companionship to participating in stimulating events, the opportunities for volunteers are both meaningful and endless. Let’s delve into the various types of events you, as a volunteer, can be a part of within our Memory Care Neighborhood.

Reading aloud to our residents contributes easily to the Neighborhood. Another great way to positively impact residents living with dementia is by providing any type of music.

A therapy dog brings joy to memory care residents at The Neighborhood as a volunteer looks on.

There are various volunteer opportunities available:

  • Engaging in crafts
  • Assisting with gardening
  • Polishing fingernails
  • Organizing men’s only events
  • Collaborating on building projects with residents
  • Offering a helping hand during mealtimes

When we dedicate our time to those living with dementia, it brings a sense of fulfillment. Often, when families move a loved one into a neighborhood, they experience a sense of loss or struggle to understand where they fit in. Volunteering has proven beneficial for many family members in this regard.

Volunteers greatly enrich the lives of our residents. Even just having visitors makes a significant impact. Social interaction is highly beneficial for individuals facing cognitive challenges. Keeping residents engaged throughout the day can mitigate sundowning symptoms. Relationships remain important for those living with dementia. Preventing isolation and enhancing socialization are crucial. While they may not recall your name, they will remember how you made them feel.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, reach out to the Memory Care Director or the Executive Director.
